In Memory Of Fred Schade

Dear Classmates and Friends of Fred Schade,

In memory of our dearly departed classmate and friend, Fred Schade, Toby Cumberbatch suggested the idea of getting Fred’s name engraved on the Alumni Terrace. There’s a 50-character limit and the inscription would simply read “Frederick Geoffrey Schade ‘02”. (The format is restrictive in that we can only write his name and graduating year.)

This is what our gift amount could yield:
$2,500 – 5/8” engraved letters
$5,000 – 1” engraved letter
$10,000 – 1 ¼” engraved letters
$20,000 – 2” engraved letters

The entire donation goes to Cooper Union so anything above the amounts shown still go to Cooper. So far we have raised over $6000 and we’re still going. We're going to keep going until the end of the year since the Terrace engraving won't get installed until after then anyway.

We have an additional option of getting an engraving on one of the chairs in the new Rose Auditorium for minimum $1000. The inscription/message is flexible and has a 100-character limit (50 characters per line).
The price of a plaque on the arm of a chair could be any of the following:
$1,000 – rows K-N (52 seats available)
$2,500 – rows D-J (107 seats available)
$5,000 – rows A-C (39 seats available)

For the chair inscription/message we could write something like one of the following:
“In memory of Frederick G. Schade ‘02”
“Alumni and friends in memory of Frederick G. Schade ‘02”
These are just suggestions. Let me know if you can think something interesting like a nice quote or something to write. You can throw your two cents in where you sign the guestbook.

Since this gift/contribution is 100% tax-deductible, we would each make our own payments to The Cooper Union either by check or credit card and you would receive a receipt in the mail. You can go ahead and make your donation whenever you wish.

Click "donate" for instruction on how to make your gift.

If your company does matching please fill out the appropriate forms and send it to Cooper Union at the above address. That match counts towards the gift(s). (You could probably fax the form too if you call Cooper Union)

Please invite others who would like to contribute by sending them the link to this page. I don’t have everyone’s email addresses.

Thank you all,

Karen Yeh

P.S. Remember, your donation supports Cooper Union, so if you donate to Cooper regularly you can think of it as making your next donation now in honor of Fred.
